Add an E-Bike

Before You Connect

Trouble Connecting? Check This First:

  • Stay close to your e-bike.
  • Connect your phone to the internet.
  • Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Stay in the app until connected.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth accessories nearby, such as headphones or a smartwatch already connected to your e-bike. Extra Bluetooth traffic nearby can interfere with pairing.
  • Make sure no other app is connected to your e-bike.
    • Hyena Rider Assistant (HRA): Flex automatically disconnects HRA during pairing. You can reconnect to HRA manually anytime afterward.
    • Trek Central App: Disconnect your e-bike from Trek Central App first. Flex can't disconnect other third-party apps automatically.
    • This only applies to your first pairing. Once your e-bike is paired with Flex, it can stay connected to multiple apps at once.

How to Add an E-Bike

To add an e-bike, go to the You tab and tap Add Bike:

  1. Review the checklist on the Let's Connect Your Bike screen, then tap Get Started.
  2. Allow the permissions when prompted.
  3. Select your bike's HMI so we can guide you with the matching pairing tutorial.
  4. Long-press the power button on your HMI to turn on your e-bike.
  5. Quickly double-click the power button to put your e-bike into pairing mode.
  6. Wait while the app syncs your bike data — this may take a minute.
  7. Once connected, choose the bike image that matches your model and color, or upload your own photo, then tap Finish.

Your e-bike is all set! You can view and manage it anytime from the You tab. See Manage an E-Bike to learn what you can change.

FAQ

  • Can I add more than one e-bike? Unfortunately, Flex currently only supports connecting one e-bike at a time. To connect a different bike, remove the current one first, then add the new one. See Remove an E-Bike for details.

  • Why does Flex need Bluetooth, network, and location permissions? Flex needs them to connect to your e-bike and record accurate ride data.

  • Will pairing with Flex disconnect my e-bike from HRA? Yes. Flex automatically disconnects HRA during pairing so it can connect to your e-bike. You can reconnect to HRA manually anytime afterward.

  • I use Trek Central App with my e-bike. What should I do? Disconnect your e-bike from Trek Central App before pairing with Flex. Flex can't disconnect other third-party apps automatically.

  • Can I change my bike's photo after pairing? Yes. You can update your bike's image anytime. See Manage an E-Bike to learn how.

  • Where can I manage my e-bike? From the You tab, go to the Bike section, where you can edit your bike's photo, disconnect it manually, or remove it. See Manage an E-Bike for details.
